Yellowstone Day 2, Grand Tetons to Jackson WY – 7.14.16

We started today from the West Yellowstone entrance.  Our first stop was the Grand Prismatic Spring.  This is hot water steaming on a cool morning, flowing from the spring into the river.

I had hoped to see the spring pool from a higher elevation on the Fairy Falls trail, but it was closed. 🙁  We couldn’t really see the pool of water, just the steam rising.  Read more

Yellowstone, Day One – 7.13.16

Neither of us have ever been to Yellowstone, so we have a lot that we want to see!  We took lots of pictures; this is just a few to share from Day one.  Since we stayed in Gardiner, we entered the park at the North entrance.  Mammoth Hot Springs was our first stop.  There are some amazing formations here, as the earth spits and grows more and more all the time.  Lots of calcium carbonate – walking around on earths very own Rolaids supply!

Spokane, WA to Gardiner, MT – 7.12.16

With Washington behind us, we realized that neither of us have been on the roads east of Coeur d’Alene since we were kids.  Western Montana has scenery similar to Eastern Washington near the Cascades… only it goes for hundreds of miles!  We found it to be rather pretty.  We crossed the Continental Divide, so now the rivers that we see do not flow to the Pacific Ocean.
