FLORIDA! 7.29.16

We left New Orleans, and headed for Florida. After 3 weeks, we have our eyes on home!  It is 700 miles from here to home, so we tried to pick a place in-between to stay.  Panama City seemed reasonable.  So away we went!  My only request was that we stop at Flora-Bama along the way for lunch.  So, good-bye Louisiana, hello Mississippi.

New Orleans 7.27/28.16

We’ve been to New Orleans a couple of times before.  I knew we wanted to stay in the French Quarter, and I like the old historic buildings.  So, we stayed at Place d’Armes on St. Ann, just one block from Café du Monde.  🙂  It was a neat conglomeration of old buildings around a central courtyard.  Very similar to another place we had stayed years ago with a big group of friends prior to a cruise, called French Market Inn.

Galveston 7.26.16

It’s about 550 miles from San Antonio to New Orleans.  Kenny was really feeling the need to breathe some ocean air, so we headed to Galveston to break up the trip.  Unfortunately, there is no good way to get there without going through Houston.  Boy, did we ever drive right through the middle of a crazy thunderstorm!  This was certainly the most stressful freeway driving we went through on the whole trip!
