9/15/20- We made it to Moab!

Tuesday: It was a 445 mile drive today, including the metropolis of Ogden, Salt Lake City, and Provo Utah. For friends in Washington, it’s like driving from Lynnwood to Tacoma. Lots of traffic, construction lane switching, and city to city. However, in Utah they drive like bats outta hell at 70 mph through all of this. Thank goodness it wasn’t raining today like it was the last time we drove through here!

We arrived in Moab to discover that our little po-dunk motel that I reserved for us at the north end of town, is right in the middle of a big road project. So we had to toddle along in bumper to bumper traffic for about a mile, then go past the motel toward town, turn around, and come back. And later to go to town, we had to go INTO the mess to a place that we could turn around and go south. Oh well. What do you want for a motel that is under $100/night in Moab?!

It wasn’t nearly as smoky!

This is the capitol building in Salt Lake City. I do like the big mountain range right outside of the city to the east.

We took a state highway 6/191 split off south of Provo through the mountains. It was really pretty, and at the higher elevations, fall colors were starting to show.

We got to Moab, checked into our motel, rested a bit, then went south of town to the KOA to find our kids at their cabin. It was great! Moab is just in a beautiful setting!

Honeymooners!

Tomorrow is the big day for a Side-x-Side rock climbing tour. Stay tuned…!
