This was not an exciting day, but Kenny did change the oil. He’s using Amsoil, and had it delivered to Alton marina, so we’ve had it for about a week. He was going to do the project there, but decided to wait a few more hours and change the oil here. We have 479 hours total on this trip, and 245 hours since the last oil change back on the Hudson River at Shady Harbor in June. There is a boat yard here so it’s an easy place to dispose of the old oil. No pictures of that event. I hung around to be a tool helper, and when he was done, I went to see the turtles. There is a spot where the marina has official marine animal food that you can feed the turtles. I didn’t feed them, but they were looking at me like I should be! Their lil noggins were all sticking up giving me the look!

After awhile I figured I should scope out the nearby outdoor pool. This is the walkway by the pool where there are cottages for rent. The Resort has all kinds of cottages and condos available.

The pool wasn’t huge or overly beautiful, but it was refreshing and nice. Diana & Courtney from Legacy came for a dip as well, so I visited with them for a bit.

It was a pretty low key day. I’m still waiting for my Fodor’s Costa Rica book from Amazon. I had ordered one to be shipped to the Alton Marina on Amazon Prime. I ordered it five days before we’d be there, and we were there for five nights. That’s ten days. It still had not arrived by the time we left, and Amazon said it was lost and they’d refund my money – which they did. Although on the tracking for USPS, it said it was in St Louis…. like right across the river from Alton! 🤷‍♀️. So I ordered another one to be delivered here at Green Turtle. Again, Amazon Prime. I ordered it on the 7th. The tracking said it would be here today, the 13th, after leaving Chattanooga, going to Nashville then to Paducah. It was in Paducah when we were there on the 10th. Then today it went to Nashville and back to Chattanooga. WHAT?! Kenny says that it is a sign, that we shouldn’t go to Costa Rica. And THEN, we got an alert that my first book showed up in Alton. 😵‍💫 And I got a phone call from the marina. I’m still trying to figure out what to do with that one. I guess I’ll wait and see what happens with book #2. Sheesh!

Today felt toasty. We started the day with Kenny getting an hour long massage at the spa. He has really sore muscles now after getting worked over! Mine is tomorrow at 9:00. Then at noon, we took the marina loaner van to Benton Kentucky to the liquor store and grocery store and got all stocked up with good stuff. The country is so pretty here! We in Kentucky, y’all!!

Yes – we in Kentucky, where bourbon is made. The craft beer selection is not anything like in Michigan! We did find this Left Hand peanut butter cup stout beer at the liquor store. It isn’t bad, but not as good as Grand Armory’s Nutter-Butter in Grand Haven Michigan.

We didn’t do much else today, other than get Speedy & Speedo out for a ride over to the Thirsty Turtle. It’s a bar/restaurant here on the property, about a half mile from the marina. They have amazing pizza. We got thin crust, and it was barely strong enough to hold all the toppings that they piled on. YUM!

We may get some rain tonight. I’ve made reservations for the downtown docks in Nashville for three nights next week; Monday-Wednesday. It isn’t a place we want to stay on the weekends, even if we could get a spot. It is right by the Tennessee Titans stadium! So tomorrow I need to make reservations for the nights leading up to that. It is staying hot and humid, with nights only down to about the upper 60’s, which is a bit warm and humid for no air conditioning. We’ll want marinas for the trip up the Cumberland River. It’ll be a fun side trip. In 2018, we left the boat here and rented a car and stayed in an Airbnb in Nashville for a few nights. We had a great time. This time, we’ll take the Girl.
