13Mar19 Blow, blow, blow the man down!

Wednesday:  Neither of us slept very well last night.  For some reason the drain pump for the shower kept cycling on about every 20 minutes.  That was annoying and puzzling…. why does it think it needs to drain water?  IS it draining water?  If so, where is the water coming from!?  😳

We finally got up and found it to be very windy outside!  We knew this weather was coming, and that is why we hustled on down to the Keys on the day that we did.  It is supposed to blow for 2-3 days.  It is still 80 some degrees, with a 15-20mph wind from the east.

Kenny checked the shower drain.  It looked like maybe there was some junk stuck in a hose that sits at an odd angle, so it would pump water out,  the flapper wouldn’t close all the way, the water would drain back into the holding box, and it would pump it out again.  Over and over.  He thinks he got it cleaned up and fixed.

We just hung out until early afternoon, then got the bikes down for a tootle to the store.  Mechanic Kenny decided that he needs some more oil on board, primarily for good ol’ Shirley the starboard motor.  She had a drinking problem.  We  found that Home Depot actually carried some Rotella oil, so we’ll go get a couple of gallons.  And we needed to go to Walgreens to pick up a prescription that we couldn’t order until after we left home due to the number of days remaining.  Walgreens is about 1 mile east of here – and both stores are on the other side of the highway.  Holy smokes it is hard to ride into a strong head wind like that!  Sheesh!  Riding back was so much easier!  And thank goodness for sidewalks to ride on, because the road is crazy busy.  There was a traffic light for us to cross the Hwy 1 at Walgreens, but we had to risk life and limb to cross back after Home Depot.  We were both sweatballs when we got back.  After cooling down a bit, I put on my swimsuit and headed for the pool.  There wasn’t much action there since it was so windy, but man it felt so good!  It was a little chilly getting out into the wind when wet, but it certainly wasn’t terrible!

I fixed dinner on board tonight – some pork loin steaks with apples, cranberry, brown sugar, butter, and maple syrup.  Sounds weird?  But delicious.  We watched the sunset from our back deck which was beautiful and I didn’t even get a picture.

There is no TV in the air here, so we tried to find something on Netflix…. but were too sleepy to stay up very long.
