14Mar19 Easy Breezy in Marathon

Thursday:  Sleep in days are so great!  No agenda today.  I got up and went to the clubhouse and enjoyed some fruit infused water before my coffee.  Fancy Schmansy.  Yum.

The wind is blowing crazy again today, so I figured I would do some cleaning up on the flybridge since the wind might help keep me from over heating.  I got a few of the windows cleaned and polished, and got all the salt wiped off of everything.  While I was up there, Kenny was inside cleaning all of the vinyl walls and ceiling.  Over the years, there has been soot and dirt that has established a home, so he was busy working on that.  I worked up a pretty good sweat and was a super sweatball, so headed to the pool for a cool down.  A quick rinse off, and in I went.  There were just a few people here, but as the afternoon went on, more and more showed up.  We visited with a few new loopers that came into the marina today.  We thought they were a little sporty to be out in the wind, but some people don’t seem to mind it.

One of the complaints about this marina is the sea grass that floats in.  The day that we were approaching Marathon, we encountered a lot of floating sea grass out in the Gulf for about the last 10 miles.  We have had an easterly wind the whole time we’ve been here, so we have quite the lawn that has floated in around our boat.  The fortunate thing is that it floats on the top of the water.  Our air conditioning intake and strainers are under the boat, so they don’t seem to be affected by this, which is a nice thing!

It was another non-eventful day for us, just enjoying the place where we are.  There has been a lot of construction demolition going on nearby, but that seems to be toning down.  The resort is expanding so there is a lot of work going on around us.  A new marina basin for larger boats was just opening in the last month or so.

When we got here a few days ago, there was a building right behind that white van.  It is been torn down and hauled away, to make room for more condo units.  There is quite a plan for this place!  In the future, the nice peaceful pool may get really busy if they have the marina and condos all rented out at the same time!

No more building behind the van!

We watched the sunset, but there were a lot of clouds tonight, so the spectacularness was not in our viewing area.  We had tacos on board for Taco Thursday dinner.  We were searching for something to watch on Netflix.  Our youngest son is quite the outdoor adventure enthusiast, so I texted him for some ideas.  He said “Departures”.  What a fun show about 2 young men adventuring around the world.  I really enjoyed it, because I can see our son doing that kind of stuff.  That kept us entertained for a couple of hours in the evening.  Tomorrow looks like the wind may settle just a little bit.  Maybe we’ll take the bikes to another nearby marina to visit with some loopers that we know (Antonia).  Or maybe we’ll continue relaxing with no agenda.  Because we can.
